Robert Baldwin Ross, Robbie to his friends, is most notable in history because of his relationship to author Oscar Wilde. At age 17, while working as a journalist and critic, he was Oscar Wilde's first male lover. Wilde was 32 at the time, and married, but Robbie seduced him into a relationship nonetheless. Even after the brief sexual relationship ended, Robbie remained loyal to Wilde through thick and thin, eventually becoming his literary executor. He was also responsible for commissioning Jacob Epstein to produce the tomb for Wilde. He even requested that Epstein design a small compartment into the tomb for Ross's own ashes.

As a young man, Robbie moved to England to go to university. While at Cambridge, he was the victim of bullying, probably due to a combination of his admitted homosexuality and his outspoken journalism in the university paper. He dropped out following an incident where he caught pneumonia after a cruel dunking in a fountain. He argued at the time that this act had the full support of a school don, but the university refused to punish the man. Not long after this, he publicly announced his homosexuality to his family, an unheard-of act at a time when homosexuality was a crime.

Robbie tried his hand at a number of careers in the following years, with little success. He attempted writing and art, but earned more notoriety as a critic of those two areas. He had a talent for recognizing great art, even if he could not produce it himself. In fact, his biggest contribution to literature lies only in his capacity as Wilde's friend in reading Wilde's texts, offering suggestions and improvements. Following Wilde's disgrace and imprisonment, Ross went abroad for safety's sake, but returned to offer support, both financial and emotional, to Wilde during his last years. He was also a close friend of Wilde's two sons, Cyril and Vyvyan Holland.

As a result of his faithfulness to Wilde even in death, Ross was vindictively pursued by Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas, Wilde's lover during the writer's later years, who repeatedly attempted to drag him into court, and attempted (unsuccessfully) to have him arrested as a homosexual.

Robbie will enter Milliways shortly after his affair with Wilde began and will go through his canon as he also spends time in the Bar.

Appearance: Robbie is 5'9 with curly, dark blond hair and brown eyes. He's slim and young when he finds his way to Milliways, but always dresses properly for men of his time period.
